Saffron Brooklyn, Inc. establisted in Fall 2009 (what better place than) in our hometown, Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York.

We first moved into Fort Greene back in 1992. My father a musician, and my mother a music lover settling away from the crazy days of East Village and finally to Brooklyn. I remember the frst day stepping into (what became) my house and finding a typewriter, a kitchen knife, a bed and pillow in the backyard. Around the block, there were crack bottles, a western beef I used to love, Spike Lee filming all the time, and you couldn't walk around without constantly looking over your shoulder. This was what was so great about the area, the little things that make you stop and say, " Oh yeah I remember that, those were the rough times, but boy were they good". Those were my memories, as a child. Rapidly its been changing, I can't say for the better, nor for the worse, people have their opinions and I keep mine the way I remember it. Things happen and you learn to live and adapt to that. There was a different vibe back then, everyone knew each other, we respected one another, and we were all living a peacefully in this crazy yet diverse area. I'm glad to say theres still a lot of it left, though the pace is much faster than before. I've learned my lessons, and all I can say is Fort Greene made me street wise, and stronger as a person.

We sure didn't think of having a store, we've talked and joked about it, but that was about it. Saffron was made possible by all the support and inspirations from friends and family local & worldwide, especially from the area of Fort Greene and from our city, New York.

So this is a space for everyone, by us.

We offer cut flowers, all things vintage, and work created by talented artists. We would like to keep the space as an interchangeble place, as is the rest of the world. Changes to saffron, hopefully more subtle. and yes, your opinions are always helpful.
